Ultrasonic HC-SR04 Arduino Library

Status: archived · Published Apr 30, 2014

Ultrasonic HC-SR04 is a small Arduino library I wrote for working with the common HC-SR04 distance sensor. It wraps the usual trigger and echo timing into a simpler interface, so the sensor is easier to drop into small Arduino projects.

It is not a huge project, but it is the kind of utility code that makes prototyping nicer. The HC-SR04 appears in a lot of simple robots, distance-measuring experiments, and automation sketches, and after writing the same timing logic a few times it makes sense to turn it into a library.

I like keeping projects like this in the archive because they show the software side of hardware work. Sometimes the useful part is not a large application, but a small layer that makes a real component less annoying to use.

It also connects with my broader interest in sensors, robotics, and practical electronics. Read a signal, make it reliable enough, and then build something more interesting on top of it.
