Flash ROM Adapter for Game Boy
This Flash ROM Adapter is a small PCB I made for using AM29F016 or AM29F032 flash memory in Game Boy cartridge projects. It is one of those tiny boards that looks very simple, but only exists because the original hardware was not designed around the parts I wanted to use.
The job of the adapter is basically to make the memory chip fit electrically and mechanically into a cartridge workflow. That means pin mapping, footprint constraints, soldering, board thickness, and making sure the final result can still live inside the cartridge shell.
I like these small support boards because they remove friction. Instead of redesigning a full cartridge every time, an adapter like this lets you test, modify, and reuse existing boards in a cleaner way.
It belongs to the same family as my other Game Boy cartridge projects. Not the main character, maybe, but definitely one of those little pieces that makes the whole retro-hardware bench easier to work with.
